Portsmouth Tattoo Extravaganza 2013

Back from Portsmouth and need sleep after 3 days of none stop laughter, good times, drinking and Tattoo fun!!!

Got to witness amazing artists at work over Saturday/ Sunday, and admiring some fabulous tattoos....even got me some cheeky work of my own from Sandy Green of Sacred Art in Chorlton

Currently getting my photo's together, including the Hillbilly party,(brace yourselves!!), and I will update the blog with convention fun times

I've also got another instalment of leg tattoos following on from earlier in the year and some other fabulous work

New Year......Time for more blogging!

Happy New Year!

So to start off, New Year's Resolution to make sure the blog is back up and running!!!!
(Forgot the login it's been that long), and I was shocked to see the blog has been viewed over 3,500......Wow, I really have neglected this hobby I started so I'm getting my act together.

And what a better way??? My first convention of 2013......Tattoo Freeze and I'm getting some ink! :)
I was chuffed to get my hands on Tattoo Revolution before Christmas as I made it in the write up for the All Female Tattoo Convention in Leamington, will get some pics up from the convention and write up.

So this Sunday I will be adding to my sleeve and finally joining this to the work on my back, thanks to the very talented Sharron Caudill of Northern Soul Tattoo. Thanks Sharron for sorting my ink fix, first of the year......remember the sleeve?

Leg Tattoo from Bolton Bazaar

Leg tattoos - my new obsession!

Having recently enjoyed the UK Summer, because let's face it, we are unlikely to have much more sun before the Autumn kicks in! I have begun a new obsessions with leg tattoos and constantly researching and people watching.

I started work on my legs last year and have added to my collection in the last 6mths alone and you guessed it, I've already planned new pieces and just need the time to fit it all in.....

This photo was took after I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and released how my ink addiction was growing. From numerous conversations with friends it seems I'm not the only one getting carried away with the ink!

My pin up cameo was done at TTP by Sharron Caudill of Northern Soul, Liverpool and we've already discussed doing a matching design.  I've certainly got the bug to add to this and before you know it my leg will be full!

The photo below is a piece done by Olivia Chell at Sacred Art Tattoo in Chorlton - this design is inspired by Green Tara - The female Budha of Longevity. She is beautiful and I cannot wait to get more work done!!! (Somehow this won't be finished with ideas to take this onto my foot and around my calf.....doesn't take much to influence me!)

Tattoo Tea Party Manchester

Way back in March, I took my family to the Manchester Tattoo Tea Party. As an avid convention goer I really wanted my parents to attend and more importantly we had arranged a surprise for my Dad's 60th birthday.

After months of planning the day had come and my Dad was set to have a tattoo done by the talented Adam Caudill of Northern Soul Tattoo in Liverpool, Knotty Ash. At Christmas we enjoyed the odd bottle of Sailor Jerry Rum and it was there we came across a "stars and stripes" inspired pin up poster.

Dad had talked for years about another tattoo and this seemed like the perfect opportunity!!!!! Here is a picture taken on instagram on the Sunday.

As I was there for the whole weekend I had planned a cheeky thigh tattoo..........

This was done by Sharron Caudill also from Northern Soul Tattoo. My brother also got a tattoo but unfortunately, I'm without a photo so this will be in my next blog!!!
I couldn't help but add my friend and also ink addict Jamie.....Here he is getting his knuckles done by Adam!!! More pictures to follow in my next blog :)

To finish off this long awaited blog, I just want to say a massive "thank you" to everyone who reads this. Somewhat stunned to see I have had over 2500 hits since I started this - awesome!!!!!!

Rockalily London - one stop shop for lipstick lovers!!

For anyone reading my blog title you are probably wondering what I'm on about??.....Tattoo conventions tend to be my main source of material but as you will see I'm sharing my other love - make up.  However, do not despair with 4 new tattoos planned in and numerous conventions, I will be keeping you all updated with plenty of photo's!!!
Any of my female readers (obviously not limiting this to the men who like to experiment!),  I have to share my love for the best lipstick I have owned and wear daily. I don't like giving away trade secrets but as I'm known as LadyInk and often teased by friends for the reason they are heavily inked, (apparently I like to encourage people to get tattooed!!!???) I just have to stop so many of you struggling to find that perfect lipstick shade.

Having always loved wearing red lipstick I have often purchased from MAC or Chanel and it was several months ago I came across ReeReeRockette and her fabulous company " Rockalily London". Total Tattoo Janurary 2012

Well, I'm utterly ashamed, I haven't worked on my blog since October.... I can honestly say Christmas came early, and has so taken over my life with work dictating so much of my time.

So here it is, my first blog, in well over a month and I plan on posting one a week from now till Christmas, ooh what a treat!!
Firstly, I had some amazing news, that my friend and tattooist extraordinaire Sharron Caudill of Northern Soul Tattoo was interviewed following the Leamington Convention, check out the link below, she's being all famous and shit.

....and then to top it off I got to see this today and it totally made me stoked!!!

My sleeve completed at the UK's 1st Female Tattoo Convention is in January's Total Tattoo......So pleased as this piece is awesome, if I do say so myself and more so, I'm ubér chuffed for Sharron!!!!!

Over the weekend my many Christmas presents I ordered online will be eagerly opened and I will be sharing some of my superb purchases with you. So, if you are a Rockabilly girl, an admirer of vintage fashion or just love a perfect red pout and looking for the ideal lipstick and jewellery to boot then I will be giving away top tips for my fav places!!!

The UK's 1st Female Tattoo Convention - Leamington Spa

Well I'm slowly recovering from an awesome weekend and an absolutely fantastic time with friends, family and new acquaintances. For those who did not make it to the convention, then shame on you! Make sure you save the date for 2012 as this is something not to be missed! Artists, great atmosphere, fabulous entertainment and a beautiful venue.

I'm slowly working through a tonne of photographs which I would like to share with you and hopefully for anyone reading this who made it, leave your feedback it would be great to hear your thoughts on this ground breaking convention.

Having been one of the lucky ones to be tattooed on the day, I have a sneaky photo of my finished sleeve and will be updating more this week when I can keep my eyes open, (seriously, sleep deprived!).

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to the uber talented Sharron Caudill of Northern Soul Tattoo for a rocking sleeve and making Ladyink extremely happy!! And for everyone else who experienced the buzz of being inked at a convention, I hopefully will have some snap shots that will be placed on the blog...watch this space :)

The UK's 1st Female Tattoo Convention

Firstly, apologises for a long overdue entry....shame on me, for the poor show.

Only 2 weeks till the Leamington Convention and plans are underway for an awesome weekend!
With the completion of my sleeve from Sharron Caudill at Northern Soul Tattoo, I'm counting down the days and looking forward to the competition.......me and Sharron are hoping for a win!

Just a huge shout out to everyone who has been reading the blog, smashed my target I had set by end of August and with 1,017 views, which means I'm in the throws of writing my next blog :)))

With 2 weeks off work I will be devoting time to finally get my studio reviews of Sacred Art in Chorlton and Northern Soul Tattoo, which will give you insight to my good friends and the amazing work created in the studios...watch this space!!

For now I'm en-route to Manchester after another week in London and looking forward to Bank Holiday weekend and drunken debauchery!!

Tattoo Jam 2011..Floral sleeve update!!!

Having woke with convention blues today and back to work Tuesday, the only way I will get through today is to review Tattoo Jam and show you my, 'William Morris' inspired sleeve!!!!

Lazy start to Saturday, as we really didn't feel the weather...Yuk! Once we had checked into the hotel it was a quick taxi ride to the race course due to the torrential rain, again UK weather really is shite!!!! Once in, slightly disappointed with the lack of atmosphere, surely some music on in the background would of created a better environment as it lacked the umph I have found at other conventions?!?!

However, once into the main area where artists were at work the distinct noise of the tattoo guns made it worth while. Straight away artists such as Jeff Gogue and Nikko Hurtado had crowds building and who could blame them, just gutted that I never got close enough to admire the amazing work!!!!

Got our floor plans and off we headed to find Northern Soul Tattoo. Sharron and Adam hard at work and creating what I know best, "shit hot tattoos". Once I have Adam's photo's for the work done at TJ then I will be adding these to the blog, in the meantime check out the website, Northern Soul Tattoo at the top of the page.
We bumped into the lovely Zoe and Wayne of Fyrefly Gems and Zoe was proudly showing her new tattoo...a fabulous creation from Sharron Caudhill, a beautiful owl :))

Here's the first stage, more colour to be added so watch this space for updated photo's!!!!

The rest of Saturday was spent mooching around, several trips to the bar and reacquainting with friends! Awesome people at the convention, and it certainly proved to be a chilled event with everyone sharing stories and ink....to all those I spoke to, thank you!!

Judging at the convention was hilarious thanks to the talented and very funny Paul Sweeney. Described in the show guide as razor sharp, and he did not disappoint! Great to see Sion Smith of Skin Deep, gutted I didn't get chance to catch up with him and thank him for the fab write up of my psychedelic peacock tattoo following the South Pier convention in April.

So moving onto the Sunday, a queue quickly formed and people waited patiently for the doors to open...me, not so patient knowing I was getting inked!! Sharron soon took to shading my arm and straight away I saw the Floral masterpiece take on another dimension. 3.5hrs and stage 3 was complete, allowing Sharron and Adam to hit the bar for a well deserved pint or 9!??  So the picture below is how it looked following the Liverpool convention, then....

Are you the proud owner of a tattoo???

Having being told there was a call in on Radio 5 this morning about tattoos and Tattoo Jam in Doncaster, I was immediately interested....

Unfortunately, it was not the call in I was hoping for, instead they had idiots calling in who wasted oxygen, slating anyone with a tattoo. Admittedly anyone stupid enough to cover themselves in football tattoos and 15yrs later go and have them removed on the NHS is a total prick, but the rest of the comments made, irritated me.

I tried calling in to make my point especially to the one caller who referred to women with tattoos as "ugly" and "easy", he then further insulted the tattoo community with the comment, "anyone with tattoos in my opinion is filth, and of low intelligence".

.....OK if your reading this, surely your blood is boiling like mine was. I graduated from University with a Bachelor of Science degree after 3 years of hard graft, and I have held full time employment since I was 20.....I'm not thick and I do not appreciate some narrow minded tit, who does not know where the location of his own arsehole is with two hands and a compass to make these ridiculous comments!!!!

So for anyone with a tattoo or those on there way to a full body suit, or even an admirer of the skill and beauty, be proud and do not allow any of these fuck wits to make you think otherwise. I chose to have body art as a mark of who I am and in some cases remembering those no longer with us, and it is most certainly an extension of my personality....and when I'm 70yrs old - I'll be bloody proud to have done something that others wasted their lives thinking about, and I'll be sat with my tattooed mates enjoying the sunset with a drink!

Tattooed Tiler from NYC-Ceramics

For the last 2 years Karl has debated and thrown ideas round for his next tattoo, not an easy task when choosing a design for a sleeve! Following several drunk evenings with Karl and Fi (my sister-in-law!), we had consumed several bottles of Barefoot Rose and it came to me that I should surprise Karl with a 4hr stint at Sacred Art, Chorlton.

Following a consultation and still undecided, Karl had but the tattoo on the back burner till the 'ink pimp' struck again....that's me if your wondering :)

For my brother's birthday I decided to book him in with Sandy Green and get this talked about sleeve started....and today was the day in question. Check out the design that blew my brother's mind as he had no idea what to expect. With just the outline done, this is gonna be a mammoth job, and one he won't forget. I will keep you up dated with new photo's over the next few months and watch out for possible Conventions where this arm continues!!!!

William Morris Sleeve cont'd

Well, I finally get a day off to chill and what else could I have asked for, other than a trip to Northern Soul Tattoo to see my friend Sharron. The concept of my sleeve started when I made the decision to go full floral and looked at William Morris for inspiration, and Sharron has designed a masterpiece in the making!

So this afternoon, I shot down the motorway to Knotty Ash to finally get some ink, in the studio breaking the convention tradition!
Perfect day for flowers and this new addition has got me fired up for my next installment. Check out Sharron's website and blog!!!

Remember your first tattoo?

On Wednesday, my Mum gets her first tattoo by Sandy Green at Sacred Art Tattoo and she is so excited!! Can you remember your first tattoo, better still do you still have it? or has it become part of a cover up????

Once I have photo's I will add them to the blog along with the work my friend Nancy is having done....it's all about the mendhi!

Finally...!

I had to wait several days to get hold of my issue of Total Tattoo, which for someone like myself who is extremely impatient, it turned out to be another great result seeing my peacock tattoo from the Portsmouth convention.

The psychedelic mendhi peacock was created by Sandy Green at Sacred Art in Chorlton, Manchester.
It is a fantastic feeling that my tattoo made it into 2 magazines, Skin Deep for me had a great write up and I loved our mention, thanks Sion!

So what's next I hear you say?

Well, Tattoo Jam is 60 days away, (and counting!!) and I'm looking forward to stage two of my sleeve. It is a William Morris inspired piece which went from a half to full sleeve in a matter of  message on facebook....Sharron Caudill you really did have to twist my arm :)
I maybe sneaking in an appointment before TJ to go and see Sharron at Northern Soul so we can add a couple more flowers and start on some shading, giving me my much needed fix!!
