Just a huge shout out to everyone who has been reading the blog, smashed my target I had set by end of August and with 1,017 views, which means I'm in the throws of writing my next blog :)))
With 2 weeks off work I will be devoting time to finally get my studio reviews of Sacred Art in Chorlton and Northern Soul Tattoo, which will give you insight to my good friends and the amazing work created in the studios...watch this space!!
For now I'm en-route to Manchester after another week in London and looking forward to Bank Holiday weekend and drunken debauchery!!

Tattoo Jam 2011..Floral sleeve update!!!
Having woke with convention blues today and back to work Tuesday, the only way I will get through today is to review Tattoo Jam and show you my, 'William Morris' inspired sleeve!!!!
Lazy start to Saturday, as we really didn't feel the weather...Yuk! Once we had checked into the hotel it was a quick taxi ride to the race course due to the torrential rain, again UK weather really is shite!!!! Once in, slightly disappointed with the lack of atmosphere, surely some music on in the background would of created a better environment as it lacked the umph I have found at other conventions?!?!
However, once into the main area where artists were at work the distinct noise of the tattoo guns made it worth while. Straight away artists such as Jeff Gogue and Nikko Hurtado had crowds building and who could blame them, just gutted that I never got close enough to admire the amazing work!!!!
Got our floor plans and off we headed to find Northern Soul Tattoo. Sharron and Adam hard at work and creating what I know best, "shit hot tattoos". Once I have Adam's photo's for the work done at TJ then I will be adding these to the blog, in the meantime check out the website, Northern Soul Tattoo at the top of the page.
We bumped into the lovely Zoe and Wayne of Fyrefly Gems and Zoe was proudly showing her new tattoo...a fabulous creation from Sharron Caudhill, a beautiful owl :))

The rest of Saturday was spent mooching around, several trips to the bar and reacquainting with friends! Awesome people at the convention, and it certainly proved to be a chilled event with everyone sharing stories and ink....to all those I spoke to, thank you!!
Judging at the convention was hilarious thanks to the talented and very funny Paul Sweeney. Described in the show guide as razor sharp, and he did not disappoint! Great to see Sion Smith of Skin Deep, gutted I didn't get chance to catch up with him and thank him for the fab write up of my psychedelic peacock tattoo following the South Pier convention in April.

So moving onto the Sunday, a queue quickly formed and people waited patiently for the doors to open...me, not so patient knowing I was getting inked!! Sharron soon took to shading my arm and straight away I saw the Floral masterpiece take on another dimension. 3.5hrs and stage 3 was complete, allowing Sharron and Adam to hit the bar for a well deserved pint or 9!?? So the picture below is how it looked following the Liverpool convention, then....

Are you the proud owner of a tattoo???
Having being told there was a call in on Radio 5 this morning about tattoos and Tattoo Jam in Doncaster, I was immediately interested....
Unfortunately, it was not the call in I was hoping for, instead they had idiots calling in who wasted oxygen, slating anyone with a tattoo. Admittedly anyone stupid enough to cover themselves in football tattoos and 15yrs later go and have them removed on the NHS is a total prick, but the rest of the comments made, irritated me.
I tried calling in to make my point especially to the one caller who referred to women with tattoos as "ugly" and "easy", he then further insulted the tattoo community with the comment, "anyone with tattoos in my opinion is filth, and of low intelligence".
.....OK if your reading this, surely your blood is boiling like mine was. I graduated from University with a Bachelor of Science degree after 3 years of hard graft, and I have held full time employment since I was 20.....I'm not thick and I do not appreciate some narrow minded tit, who does not know where the location of his own arsehole is with two hands and a compass to make these ridiculous comments!!!!
So for anyone with a tattoo or those on there way to a full body suit, or even an admirer of the skill and beauty, be proud and do not allow any of these fuck wits to make you think otherwise. I chose to have body art as a mark of who I am and in some cases remembering those no longer with us, and it is most certainly an extension of my personality....and when I'm 70yrs old - I'll be bloody proud to have done something that others wasted their lives thinking about, and I'll be sat with my tattooed mates enjoying the sunset with a drink!

Tattooed Tiler from NYC-Ceramics
For the last 2 years Karl has debated and thrown ideas round for his next tattoo, not an easy task when choosing a design for a sleeve! Following several drunk evenings with Karl and Fi (my sister-in-law!), we had consumed several bottles of Barefoot Rose and it came to me that I should surprise Karl with a 4hr stint at Sacred Art, Chorlton.
Following a consultation and still undecided, Karl had but the tattoo on the back burner till the 'ink pimp' struck again....that's me if your wondering :)
For my brother's birthday I decided to book him in with Sandy Green and get this talked about sleeve started....and today was the day in question. Check out the design that blew my brother's mind as he had no idea what to expect. With just the outline done, this is gonna be a mammoth job, and one he won't forget. I will keep you up dated with new photo's over the next few months and watch out for possible Conventions where this arm continues!!!!
....and for those wondering about the blog title? NYC-Ceramics is my brother's business and if your considering a walk in shower and a bathroom overhaul then check out his website - AWESOME!!

It's been too long.......

William Morris Sleeve cont'd
Well, I finally get a day off to chill and what else could I have asked for, other than a trip to Northern Soul Tattoo to see my friend Sharron. The concept of my sleeve started when I made the decision to go full floral and looked at William Morris for inspiration, and Sharron has designed a masterpiece in the making!
So this afternoon, I shot down the motorway to Knotty Ash to finally get some ink, in the studio breaking the convention tradition!
